Solar Electrical Technicians must have a wide range of knowledge, which they can gain through solar panel installation training or even on the job. Responsibilities can vary but include the need to be able to read drawings and schematics, know about local codes and regulations, and understand the current requirements for the electrical circuit of a solar panel system. Installing a panel or panels may be more in-depth than it may seem at first. Solar energy technicians must know how to apply weather sealing to the panel or system, put in interconnected wiring, and test voltages to ensure the system operates within acceptable limits.
Why solar?
The solar energy industry is booming. Since 2009, the amount of solar energy connected to the grid has increased more than 35-fold, reaching 64 GW today. This expansion has resulted in the creation of thousands of new solar industry jobs, with more than 2.5 Lakhs people currently employed and projections of major growth in the future.
Aside from those two reasons, the world is also looking for renewable and sustainable sources of energy in order to protect and reduce the harm caused to the environment. As you may have already noticed, the deterioration of the environment is highly correlated to the production and usage of fossil-based fuels worldwide.
Project Overview:
Mahendra Nath Ghosh Educational & Welfare Trust (MNG Academy) aims to skill youth who are unemployed and underemployed in Renewable Energy Sector and provide them with Entrepreneurship opportunities. There is a continuum of skills that are required in the renewable energy sector and there are various ways in which to acquire them. In West Bengal, while higher-level skills have received some attention, the same cannot be said for skills for which formal education is not a prerequisite. This means that the underprivileged youth are doubly hit - first because of poverty and second because of poor access to formal education.
MNG Academy seeks to fill this gap by imparting a specific set of knowledge on renewable energy, skills, and attitude needed by the youth to become self-employed with the following objectives and considering the recent growth in the field of Renewable Energy due to Government initiatives in the country and state, there is an urgent need for comprehensive human resource development in this field to train man-power with strong basics in Renewable energy, Energy conservation, and sustainable energy systems.
Training Delivery Mechanism:
MNG Academy will ensure that the training is delivered in an innovative and trainee friendly manner with adequate audio visual tools and participatory methods keeping in mind that “SOLAR & LED TECHNICIAN TRAINING” program targets people from Unemployed and underemployed youth.
