Course to be Pursued by Male Nurses

The following are some of the courses which need to be pursued by the male nurses;

GNM Nursing

The complete form of GNM nursing is General Nursing and Midwifery. It is a diploma nursing program.  It is a three-and-half-years course.  A six month internship program is required to take admission into this course.  A student having scored a minimum of 40% aggregate in all the subjects in both class 10th and 12th are eligible to take in GNM nursing colleges. The minimum and maximum age limit is 17 years and 35 years respectively to take admission into GNM nursing.  Students who have passed ANM nursing or completed any vocational course by CBSE or NIOS or state board are eligible to take admission into GNM courses.

ANM Nursing

The complete form of ANM nursing is Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery. It is a diploma nursing program.  It is a two year course.  A six month internship program is required to take admission into this course.  A student having scored a minimum of 40% aggregate in all the subjects in both class 10th and 12th from science and arts stream are eligible to take in ANM nursing colleges. The minimum and maximum age limit is 17 years and 35 years respectively to take admission into ANM nursing.

  1. B. Sc Nursing 

It is a professional degree nursing program.  It is a four year course.  A candidate is eligible to enroll into this course after successful completion of 12th exams and B.Sc nursing qualifying examination. The minimum and maximum age limit is 17 years and 35 years respectively to take admission into B.Sc nursing. Also, the candidate has to be medically fit. The eligibility for taking admission into B. Sc nursing depends upon securing minimum aggregate marks of 45% in 10+2 with English as compulsory subject and major of PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). B. Sc nursing course is being offered many nursing colleges in India depending on the duration, criteria, eligibility may vary.

  1. M. Sc Nursing

It is a professional master’s degree nursing program.  It is a two year course.  A candidate is eligible to enroll into this course after successful completion of B.Sc nursing from a recognized nursing college with securing minimum aggregate marks of 55%. The minimum and maximum age limit is 17 years and 35 years respectively to take admission into M. Sc nursing. Also, the candidate has to be medically fit. M. Sc nursing course is being offered many nursing colleges in India depending on the duration, criteria, eligibility may vary. M. Sc nursing can be pursued in different specializations such as psychiatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing and mental health nursing etc.
