Phlebotomy Course Eligibility and Duration
After passing 12th class from a recognized board, a candidate can apply for a certification course in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT) or from any other recognized institute by accredited board.
The certificate course offered by CMLT is a short-term course of 6 months. This course includes 4 months theory classes and 2 months internship. It is to be noted that this can be pursued in both online as well as offline mode.
The aspirants enrolled for this course require a motor vehicle driving license a apart from the collection of samples at the center, they would be responsible to carry out the home sample collection as well. Further, they have to accurately level them and deliver it with specified timeframe.
Opportunities and Remuneration
As a phlebotomist also known as laboratory technician, is the only contact for the patient for the medical laboratory. Apart working in a laboratory, a phlebotomist can also work in government hospitals, private hospitals, diagnostic centers, blood banks, clinics etc. Basing on the experience, the starting salary of the phlebotomist ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. However, it may increase basing on the experience.
